Following the news that Netflix is developing a live-action GearsofWar movie, Dave Bautista reignites his campaign to play lead character Marcus Fenix.

Following news of Netflix's Gears of War movie, Dave Bautista restates his interest in playing Marcus Fenix. Developed by the studio The Coalition, Gears of Wars is a video game franchise that started in 2006 centered around lead protagonist Marcus Fenix, a soldier tasked with leading a last-ditch effort to destroy the Locust Horde and save humanity. Days ago, it was announced that Netflix and The Coalition were teaming up to develop a live-action Gears of Wars movie adaptation.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In light of Netflix's Gears of War movie being announced, Dave Bautista took to Twitter to reignite his campaign to play Marcus Fenix. The WWE star-turned-actor posted an old promo of him suiting up in the solider's signature COG armor to re-express his interest in playing the role, captioned with "I can't make this any easier." Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski has even endorsed the retired wrestler in the role of Marcus Fenix.

If the promo video didn't provide enough convincing already, Bautista would be perfect as Marcus Fenix in Netflix's live-action Gears of War movie. The COG soldier is the archetypal rough, tough, and gruff protagonist that Bautista was born to play; several of his past roles even hint at his skill in taking on a part like this. Also, Gears of War is clearly Bautista's passion project considering just how long and hard he's been campaigning for his dream role.

The only question about Bautista playing Marcus Fenix is if he'd be willing to commit to the role long-term. Bautista tired on playing Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, which kept him tied down for years and required him to stay in incredible shape. If Gears of War becomes a successful franchise as Netflix hopes, it might be more of the same for the 53-year-old actor. Bautista's next performance can be seen in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, releasing on Netflix next month.
