The contest was held at Beaver Stadium during a Penn State Football game and was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council.

Mountain Road in Lower Paxton Township, was awarded first place Oct. 14 in the Penn State Football BBQ Rib Cook-Off.
“Just low and slow and attention to detail,” he said. “We don’t use anything but salt and pepper on our food here. Just good fire management. We just stick to what we do best.” McMullan said he was presented the award during half-time at Beaver Stadium. Ribs were judged by a panel that included celebrity judges who rated the meats on criteria such as presentation and flavor.
Along the way, Up in Smoke’s catering orders grew, so McMullan moved operations in 2020 to a sit-down restaurant with large kitchen.
