Just devastating 💔
A woman whose parents have been buried in a Keswick graveyard for almost 30 years has been left devastated after it took her more than 20 minutes to find their grave because of the state of the grass.
She explained: "I went down to the churchyard at St John's Church and they're just letting the grass grow, you can't even see the top of the gravestones. They reckon it's to do with environmental problems but that's a load of rubbish because it's just grass, no flowers, no nothing. As well as using the probation service, Isobel had the idea of having some strimmers at the church so people could maintain family and friends' graves and keep the area tidier.
The Diocese of Carlisle has said the uncut grass is down to two reasons, one being the churchyard provides a rich habit for flora and fauna and another being funding. You can read their full statement below.
