At its annual conference, Databricks highlighted the crucial role of data ownership and explored the future of data management while announcing several new products.

I was recently back in San Francisco, attending the Databricks Data and AI Summit 2024. The Moscone Center was buzzing with energy as attendees gathered. The event focused on changes in the world of data and AI, highlighting the crucial role of data ownership. It showed why companies need control over their data at its source to ensure security, privacy compliance and accurate decision making.

Databricks CEO Ali Ghodsi and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced an expansion of their companies’ partnership Understanding the impact of this data growth on organizations is crucial for leveraging data assets effectively, and businesses must prepare to manage and extract valuable insights from the increasing volume of data. In my view, adopting scalable data management solutions from vendors such as Databricks, Snowflake, Cloudera, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure or IBM is necessary for managing growing data volumes.

Delta Sharing enables secure data sharing with other organizations regardless of their computing platforms. Cloudflare is integrating Delta Sharing with its R2 storage service to eliminate data egress costs and vendor lock-in, facilitating more secure multicloud sharing. Dell's collaboration with Databricks helps organizations adopt a multicloud approach by securely sharing data across on-premises and cloud environments.
