To address the surgical backlog of women with gynecologic cancers, Dix noted that money has been allocated for the first three months of 2023 at Vancouver General Hospital to provide nearly 20 hours more of operating room time each week. “The part that’s hardest for our group is that we’ve been talking about this for years and watching population grow and age,” she said. “We knew for years that we would be dealing with increased cancer rates and we haven’t expanded proactively to care for patients.”Article content
