From fireworks, Emmerdale guests and a surprise first dance, actor DannyBMiller and his partner Steph Jones tied the knot in style
Actor Danny Miller has married his childhood sweetheart Steph Jones in a stunning ceremony in the Cheshire countryside.
From spectacular fireworks, a first dance with a twist and the bride doing the worm, there were plenty of surprises in store for their guests, but first came the couple’s ceremony, which took place in the grounds of the beautiful Nunsmere Hall Hotel in Cheshire. Midwife Steph adds of the day, which was coordinated by wedding planner Samantha Bradbury from Moor Connections, “It was perfect. Apart from having Albert it was the best day of our lives."
“It’s been almost a year since I left but I invited everyone I’m close to and all the Dingles, and then loads of people came in the evening. It was really nice to see them all there,” says Danny. But the star of the show was the couple’s nine-month-old son Albert, who smiled and giggled his way down the aisle as he was pulled by Steph’s nephew Rowan in a white cart decorated with flowers and a wooden heart reading “Daddy here comes Mummy”.
Danny adds of seeing his bride for the first time as he held their son, “I felt overwhelmed, but it was more with happiness. I didn’t want to not be able to control my emotions as it was Steph’s moment, but there were some tears later on. “The dress I wore ended up being one my mum had picked,” explains Steph, whose dress was from Florianni Bridal Boutique and designed by Wona Concept.
Registrar Barbara Woods, who the couple met on holiday in Fuerteventura, then welcomed everyone to the ceremony, which was full of emotion and laughs. The pair then sealed their union with a kiss, which they didn’t seem to want to end! And while the marriage scheduled was being signed, with usher Adam and Steph’s maid of honour Lindsay acting as witnesses, Ellie Goulding’s How Long Will I Love You played out.
Little did Danny and Steph’s guests know that once they took their seats they were in for a treat, as the entertainment did not stop from the moment the reception began. And Danny and Steph’s wedding may have been 18 months in the planning, but it quickly became clear throughout the day that they had been wanting to marry each other for a lot longer.
The childhood sweethearts romance continued on and off throughout primary school and their teenage years, but after leaving high school the pair went their separate ways and they thought that was it. There was not a dry eye in the house as he told their guests, “Stephanie and I found each other at my darkest time mentally, but what I didn’t realise was it was her darkest time too.
“It was so emotional,” Steph tells us as she reflects on Danny’s speech. “Me, my mum and Danny’s mum were all in tears and I had to have a full make-up touch up because I had mascara streaming down my face. He perfectly summed up how we feel about each other.” Steph adds, “When you’re experiencing depression you’re always thinking, ‘Have I let my family down?’ and always worrying about other people’s opinions rather than focusing on yourself.
Danny continues, “For me I didn’t know where I was going in life and I felt like I didn’t know who I was, which all contributed to my anxiety. Steph goes on to explain that the pair have since seen the same therapist, while Danny has also taken medication in the past, and they are both now in a much better place mentally.
Danny’s speech was followed by his best man Chris’ speech, which drew plenty of laughs, and Steph’s dad Barry’s father of the bride speech, where he told Steph how proud he and her mum Joyce were of her. “We only rehearsed it twice. I was nervous but when the curtain dropped I just thought, ‘Wow! I’m going to go for it.’ The whole thing was actually Danny’s idea.”
And the entertainment didn’t stop there! After changing back into his suit and Steph slipping into her second dress – a strap gown featuring glittering beading from Justin Alexander - the pair cut their three-tier cake, which had been made by Danny’s mum Andrea, before his friend Shane Nolan – the son of Coleen Nolan and Shane Richie – took to the stage with his band to perform a medley of boyband classics and even Baby Shark for the kids.
“I always used to go to Creamfields when I was younger and it felt like I was at a music festival as we were both dancing in the rain,” she says. He continued, “There were a few people who couldn’t make it. Dominic Brunt was on holiday so he couldn’t make it which was a shame as he’s like my Emmerdale dad, and David [Ginola] had to be in France so he couldn’t make it, which was a real shame.As the celebrations in the marquee began to draw to a close guests tucked into mini sliders and fish and chips before dancing until 1am and moving things on to the Captain’s Bar inside the hotel.
