Montague’s amendment to redirect funding away from VANDU was opposed by the three councillors from outside of ABC. But other ABC councillors supported Montague’s proposal to cut VANDU’s arts grant and redirect the money to an as-yet unnamed and undetermined “alternate and appropriate” Indigenous-led organization.Article content
Later, Kirby-Yung said: “If responsible use of public funds and good governance is considered political, then I would be happy to be considered responsible every day of the week. And I think this is the decision that the majority of Vancouverites expect us to take, and I think this is how they expect council, as a collective, to govern.”
