Tim Murphy is one of two recipients of the Sport P.E.I. President’s Award, which was presented recently at the Sport P.E.I. Awards ceremony in Charlottetown. “Obviously, very honoured because it’s an indication that people respect and understand what has gone into it over the number of years."Dalziel and Murphy both began their association with their respective sports in the 1970s. Murphy began in wrestling as a competitor in 1974 and turned to coaching in the early 1980s after his university career.
Murphy said there is more of a long-term approach to wrestling on P.E.I. An example of that is, noted Murphy, is the work for the 2025 Canada Summer Games that began with a wrestling camp on Dec. 17. Susan Dalziel displays the Sport P.E.I. President’s Award presented during the recent Sport P.E.I. Awards ceremony in Charlottetown. The Dalziel Cup, named in her honour, is awarded to the provincial under-18 AAA female hockey champions.
