The collision with 16 vehicles was reported around noon Friday outside Target at popular Peninsula shopping center, authorities said.
DALY CITY — Several people were injured after a SamTrans bus reportedly crashed into multiple cars in a parking lot at the Serramonte Center late Friday morning, authorities said.
According to a statement from SamTrans, a bus collided with 16 vehicles around 11:50 a.m. in the south parking lot near the Target department store in the busy shopping center popular with holiday shoppers. The statement added that multiple people were injured, four of whom were rushed to the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. One of the hospitalized victims was listed in critical condition.“As we work to gather information about the cause of this incident, our hearts go out to those affected,” reads the transit statement.
A tweet from the North County Fire Authority confirmed that “multiple vehicles” were hit by a county bus, and that the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office has also been summoned to investigate. The fire agency estimated that police and emergency personnel will be on site for most of Friday afternoon to examine the scene.
