The move comes as the Dallas County Commissioners Court considers new sick leave policy for employees who must isolate due to COVID-19.
Dallas County employees could get paid leave for isolation due to COVID-19, but commissioners are still debating how the program would work. A proposal submitted to the commissioners Tuesday would give an additional 48 hours of leave for isolation or quarantine separate from an employee’s sick leave or vacation time.
Commissioners discussed the county’s policies for slowing the spread of the virus among its own employees in a meeting Tuesday as case counts and hospitalizations continue to rise. The county doesn’t currently ask employees theirIf the county provides paid time off, Commissioner Elba Garcia said, employees should be able to provide proof of a positive test — and a negative result when they’re ready to return.
“We want to incentivize our workforce to get vaccinated because it’s important to do for all of us,” Garcia said.
