Friday night road game in Elliot Lake goes the way Greater Sudbury wants
The NOJHL-leading Greater Sudbury Cubs continued their winning ways during a Jan. 13 road game at Centennial Arena in Elliot Lake.
Greater Sudbury opened the scoring just past the eight-minute mark of the game when Cameron Walker scored his 13th of the season with a low backhander from the top of the crease that beat Red Wings’ netminder Cameron Smith between the legs. The Cubs went ahead again halfway through the second. A patient Nolan Newton waited for the right pass and found a charging Samuel Assinewai, who delivered by firing up upstairs to beat Beaulne and score his fourth goal in as many games.Early in the third, Greater Sudbury went up 3-1 after Cubs’ star Pierson Sobush sent a cross-crease feeder to Billy Biedermann who scored his 16th of the year.
