Hat trick from Nolan Newton leads Greater Sudbury to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven playoff series
The Greater Sudbury Cubs took a 3-1 playoff series lead over the Blind River Beavers and they did it in solid fashion in front of a hometown crowd on April 9.
Less than three minutes later, Greater Sudbury did it all over again. Breaking out during a transition, a give-and-go saw Newton and Chitaroni go back and forth, with Chitaroni beating Disano to make it a 2-0 Cubs’ game. Moving onto the second period, the Cubs’ Ethan Larmand made it 5-1 by guiding in an Oliver Smith pass from the left circle. It was 6-1 quite quickly though, as Marshall McCharles stuffed in a rebound that was knocked free by Newton.
