Stroman was scratched from his start against the Dodgers on Sunday.
Simmons is slated to play shortstop Saturday and DH on Sunday, according to the Cubs. Iowa is off Monday. The Cubs signed the four-time Gold Glove Award winner after MLB's lockout as another shortstop option along with the versatile Nico Hoerner. Hoerner has taken on the bulk of playing time at short so far this season.Alec Mills will throw off a mound in the next few days and the Cubs will reevaluate him after to determine his next steps.
The tentative plan is for Bote to begin a rehab assignment in about two weeks. He's missed the start of the season after undergoing left shoulder surgery over the offseason.
