It will be a merry Christmas for 23,000 children in Ottawa this year, thanks to the community's generosity.
More than 69,000 toys were donated this year. They will help 7,800 families ensure there will be something from Santa underneath the tree on Christmas morning.
The final donation from the Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association, raised during the Help Santa Toy Parade, put the total over $200,000. A $55,000 cheque was presented Friday evening on CTV News at Six. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has written to Gov. Gen. Mary Simon, imploring her to 'use your authority to inform the prime minister that he must' recall the House of Commons so a non-confidence vote can be held. This move comes in light of NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh publishing a letter stating his caucus 'will vote to bring this government down' sometime in 2025.
