|Victoria council is making yet another attempt to replace the aging Crystal Pool, approving a referendum to hear from voters.
On top of the $169 million to be borrowed, the city plans to use $47 million from the reserve funds to pay for the pool.If the replacement pool is built in the north, Crystal Pool will be closed for the duration of the project as the new facility will sit in the footprint of the current one. If this option is chosen, the current pool may be able to remain open, but the nearby excavation and blasting may cause a catastrophic failure, resulting in the permanent closure before construction is complete.Whichever option is chosen, Victoria has plans to include the same amenities for the new facility.
