A new BTS video from the set of the CriminalMinds revival teases the return of original characters like Emily Prentiss and David Rossi.
A new BTS video from the Criminal Minds revival shares a unique glimpse at the returning characters. Barely a year after the long-running FBI procedural ended its run on CBS, news broke that the series was being revived for the new streaming platform Paramount+. Development on the show was initially slow, but in July 2022, Paramount+ officially handed a series order to Criminal Minds, commissioning it for a 10-episode season 16.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY As far as plot details for the revival are concerned, the show will drop its original episodic format and instead focus on a single case throughout the season.
Filming on the Criminal Minds revival has been underway since last week, as the commencement of production was confirmed by Brewster after she shared an image previewing her new Prentiss look. More recently, Mantegna confirmed that he has begun filming the Criminal Minds reboot with a clip which he capped off with the iconic BAU phrase, "Wheels up!" As the show is in the very early stages of filming, there is little that can be revealed at this moment.
At the moment, there is no release date in sight for Criminal Minds season 16. However, it's satisfying to know that after all the roadblocks, work on the show is progressing, and as previous set photos have demonstrated, it's the same, familiar BAU that will be showcased on the series. While Criminal Minds will be without Gubler and Henney, there will still be plenty to love.
