B.C. Wildfire Service crews are now working their way inward at two fire locations near Terrace. Using hoses, firefighters have been wetting the perimeters of the Little Oliver Creek fire east of Terrace and the Pontoon Creek fire north of Terrace.

B.C. Wildfire Service crews are now working their way toward the interiors of two fires near Terrace.

Using hoses, firefighters have been wetting the perimeters of the Little Oliver Creek fire east of Terrace and the Pontoon Creek fire north of Terrace. They then work their way inward with a goal of a 400-foot blackline penetration area at Pontoon Creek and one of 50 feet at Little Oliver Creek. The progress has meant the Little Oliver Creek fire is regarded as being held and the Pontoon Creek fire as contained.There's a unit crew of more than 20 people and two wildfire officers at Little Oliver Creek and a unit crew of more than 20 people and a four-person initial attack crew at Pontoon Creek.

First reported July 8, the Little Oliver Creek fire reached a size of 215 hectares and Pontoon Creek, reported on July 15, reached a size of 8.2 hectares.
