Rollingwood police officers were the first to arrive on scene and updated the Westlake FD crews that there was a structure on fire. The first unit arrived at 1:59 p.m. and started a fire attack and three minutes later, the fire went through the roof and crews changed to a defensive mode, attacking from the outside.Fire Chief Wilson said they evacuated two homes in close proximity to the structure on fire, which was nearing construction completion.
During their suppression efforts, officials said sparks and embers were landing on neighboring roofs and crews worked to put those out as well.Fire Chief Wilson said Austin Energy temporarily shut down the power to Rollingwood residents in the area for safety reasons due to the fire, AFD said.
