Paulie's Robot is finally redeemed.
After receiving a mixed reaction in Rocky IV, Paulie's Robot finds a new purpose in the Creed expanded universe, with a reference in the Creed: The Next Round comic book miniseries. The robot is something that fans typically either love or hate – Sylvester Stallone notably removed Paulie's Robot entirely from the Rocky IV Director's Cut, but the legacy of Paulie's Robot remains.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Creed: The Next Round #2 – by creative director Michael B. Jordan, writers LaToya Morgan and Jai Jamison, letterer Andworld Design, and artists Wilton Santos, DJ Chavis, Joe Jaro, Maria Keane, and Joana LaFuente – alludes to Paulie's Robot when an older Adonis Creed receives a pitch from a robot tech company, hoping to gain Adonis as an investor.
Paulie's Robot Paved the Way for The Future of Tech in the Rocky-Creed Universe Paulie's Robot has always had a strained position within the Rocky franchise as a whole, especially after being excised from the fourth movie's Director's Cut. Some have speculated that the omission was due to the comedic scenes between Paulie and his robot not fitting the overall serious tone of the movie.
The inclusion of Paulie's Robot in Rocky IV was less of an odd choice than many have claimed it to be. One of the themes of the movie is that Rocky, and Paulie, have lost touch with their roots, succumbed to the draw of opulence. As goofy as the Robot may seem to modern audiences, in 1985, it would have been the peak of upper class frivolity to have a Robot housekeeper.
