The Capital Regional District has issued a warning to Greater Victoria residents that fraudsters are attempting to scam people by impersonating the CRD.
The CRD says if you receive a “suspicious” call claiming to be from the district and asks for personal information, do not provide information. Instead, ask for the name of the person calling you and hang up. The CAFC urges Canadians to be cautious with any unsolicited phone calls where the caller asks for personal information like your name, address, date of birth, Social Insurance Number or credit card and banking information.
