KUALA LUMPUR: Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa says Pakatan Harapan leaders are blaming his party for trying to break up the government because the four parties in the ruling coalition are insecure among themselves.

While the Ketereh MP dismissed the idea of a new government linked to the transition plan between Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan felt that such talk would continue to haunt Pakatan until May next year.Annuar claimed cracks within Pakatan had caused his party to be blamed for the purported ouster.

He also denied that the latest speculation had come about due to the lack of a proper transition date between the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman and PKR president.Talk about the plot intensified after the Pakatan secretariat claimed on Tuesday that Hishammuddin was orchestrating the ouster of DAP and Amanah from Pakatan.

Ahmad said the suggestion of Umno forming a coalition government with Pakatan was initially raised by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Dr Mahathir had maintained several times that he would relinquish power to Anwar, but stopped short of committing to a date. On Wednesday, he issued a challenge to anyone who tried to break up the coalition, saying “they can try”.
