Arizona Coyotes owner and chairman Alex Meruelo released a letter to his team’s fans on Tuesday morning reiterating his commitment to building a new arena to keep his team in the Arizona desert.
The Coyotes sold out all of their games during the 2022–23 season at Mullett Arena and are entering their second season of play at the venue, but they remain in search of a permanent arena solution. The club had pursued an arena deal in Tempe, AZ, but it was defeated by a public vote in May.A letter from Chairman & Governor Alex Meruelo.“The Tempe arena proposal was defeated, but we were not. We got right to work,” Meruelo wrote. On to other options in the Valley.
“Know this: we have left no potential option unturned to give our fans the permanent home they deserve. The Valley is where the organization and I want to be. My family lives here. We are all in.” The Coyotes also signed head coach Andre Tourigny and general manager Bill Armstrong to contract extensions this off-season, with new deals also given to the rest of Tourigny’s coaching staff.
