Two residents in Richmond's Hamilton neighbourhood were attacked by a coyote last weekend. The victims sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.
Two residents in East Richmond 's Hamilton neighbourhood were attacked by a coyote last weekend. A man and woman were walking near Hamilton Community Park when they were attacked around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, according to the B.C. Conservation Office Services. The coyote followed the pair as they tried to leave the area, B.C. Conservation added. The two victims had minor injuries as a result of the coyote encounter and received medical attention.
Signs warning residents and community members about the incident were put up in the area and at Hamilton elementary. The conservation office said it's monitoring coyote activity in the area and responding to concerns as needed. The (conservation office) encourages people to take precautions in case of coyote encounters, including travelling in groups and ensuring pets are leashed, they said. Coyote conflicts can be reported to the Report All Poachers and Polluters line at 1-877-952-7277.
