Asked what the percentage is of him playing against the Jets, Lewis said, “I think its 100%, 100% on me playing. It’s not my call.”After making that comment, Lewis laughed because he understands the Cowboys’ medical staff is cautious with him. Last week, Lewis said he felt good enough to play, but his foot needed to be more stable.
One of the biggest reasons Lewis is close to playing is his rehab from a Lisfranc injury to his right foot. His recovery prevented the Cowboys from placing Lewis on the PUP list. If that were the case, Lewis would have missed the first four weeks of the regular season. Now he’s close. “It feels really good,” Lewis said. “At the end of [training] camp, they knew I was really close. The closest I was going to be besides going out there and practicing. They knew I needed time to practice to be ready to go out there and perform. I didn’t need four weeks to do that.”Safety Donovan Wilson was limited in practice Wednesday and is close to making his season debut. Wilson was injured in the first week of training camp.
