COVID\u002D19: Union calls on B.C. government to extend ban on evictions
Under the plan, renters will have until July, 2021 to gradually pay back any unpaid rent so that they can keep their housing, as long as they make regular payments. They will, however, need to begin paying their monthly rent in full beginning in September.
In March, the BCGEU called for a freeze on rent and mortgage payments for the duration of the pandemic. This will be Oct. 1 for most renters, assuming their landlord provides them with a repayment plan before the end of August.In the repayment plan, landlords will be required to outline what the renter owes in monthly instalments.
