Para a pesquisa, foram analisadas informações disponíveis nos bancos de dados do Sistema de Informações de Mortalidade , parte do Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde do Brasil , e do Cadastro Geral de Empregados e Desempregados , o registro de admissão e dispensa de empregados sob o regime da Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho mantido pelo Ministério do Trabalho e da Previdência.

Na segmentação por gênero, foi possível observar que os óbitos predominaram entre as mulheres: oito a cada dez profissionais da saúde que morreram de covid-19 no país eram mulheres. As mulheres compõem a maioria da força de trabalho na enfermagem. A análise de dados de saúde no Brasil enfrenta uma série de desafios. De acordo com o relatório: “Não existem dados oficiais sobre quantas pessoas trabalharam na linha de frente do combate à pandemia, visto que houve grande rotatividade no mercado de trabalho da saúde na época e muitos profissionais atuam em mais de uma unidade de saúde.
