There were 1,741 new cases reported this week and about 50 people are being treated in hospital for COVID-19. SaltWire

The new deaths bring the total during the pandemic to 473, including 361 since the Omicron waves began last December.

There are 50 people in hospital being treated for COVID-19 - up about nine compared to last week - with seven in ICU.The median age of those in hospital is 75, while the median age of those who have died is 83. Also Thursday the IWK Health centre reported 65 staff members have COVID-19 and 17 are isolating because they’re close contacts. The Nova Scotia Health Authority was expected to release Information on its health-care worker absences later Thursday.
