Nationally, the figure fell from 1.7 million commercial shipments to 1.2 million over the same period.

Graham Robins, president of Surrey-based A&A Customs Brokers, said his business had seen a 25 per cent drop after the Canada/U.S. border closed on March 21. “It was all from the sudden drop in demand when sectors like retail simply stopped ordering,” he said. “The trickle-down effect was incredible.”
