Updated: B.C. health officials are gearing up for a spring booster program targeting the elderly and most clinically vulnerable with a fourth dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
While 91 per cent of B.C. adults have received two doses of the vaccines, 59 per cent have also had their third or booster dose.
About 650,000 British Columbians will become eligible for the fourth dose as the program rolls out, including those who are 80 and older, those in long-term care regardless of age, and those 55 and older in the Indigenous population. Health officials are also changing how they report data on COVID-19, moving from reports every weekday to once a week. The rationale for the change is that weekly averages provide a more accurate reflection of key trends, such as the number in hospital and intensive care with the coronavirus.
