British court rules in favor of police to seize assets from Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate to cover unpaid taxes from online businesses.
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were ordered by a British court to forfeit more than 2.6 million pounds (US$3.3 million) to cover unpaid taxes. The Devon and Cornwall Police secured the ruling, stating that the brothers, along with a woman identified as J, engaged in tax evasion through fraudulent financial transactions. The court found that the Tates transferred nearly $12 million to J's account, which they characterized as a “straightforward cheat” of tax authorities.
A lawyer for the Devon and Cornwall Police asserted that the brothers were “serial” tax evaders who failed to pay taxes on 21 million pounds earned from their online businesses between 2014 and 2022. Andrew Tate claimed this was a “coordinated attack” on those who challenge the system. A lawyer for the brothers argued the bank transfers were standard practice for online businesses and emphasized they spent money on “exotic motor cars” but committed no illegalities. The court proceedings were civil, requiring a lower standard of proof than criminal cases.
