For Darrell Peddle, this meant seeing his aging parents, Don, then 79, and Gloria Peddle, 76 at the time, travel to Billings, Montana, for months.

At the time, cancer hadn't even come into Darrell's mind. Up until that point, his family never had any significant health problems. "I didn't even know if I believed in the natural treatments and the eastern Asian medications and all these kinds of things that people do, but I called her," Darrell said.

The couple returned to Bay Roberts in November 2021. Don reacted positively to the trial's treatment.
