Defense attorneys ask a judge to toss the indictments of Christian Moreno and Abilene Schnieder for a dog mauling that killed Air Force veteran Ramon Najera Jr.
A married couple under indictment for a pit bull attack that killed an elderly Air Force veteran on the West Side is seeking to shift blame for the mauling to San Antonio Animal Care Services. Attorneys for Christian Alexander Moreno and Abilene Schnieder asked a judge Friday to toss a grand jury’s indictments against them after the couple’s dogs killed Ramon Najera Jr., 81, of Leon Valley, nearly a year ago.
Former KSAT sports anchor Greg Simmons fails in bid to knock out DWI blood evidence Moreno and Schnieder, both 32, are each charged with dangerous dog attack causing death and recklessly causing bodily injury to an elderly person, both felony offenses. They are free on bond and are expected to stand trial together before a jury later this year.
