In the past six days, he finally decided it is time, saying that he has had a good run. He represents District 9 on the north side encompassing the State Fairgrounds and South Broad Ripple.
Minority leader Brian Mowery said in a media release that Oliver had worked well with both parties during his time as a councilor and congratulated him on his retirement."I’m not stepping down or quitting or leaving the city," he said, adding that he plans to enjoy his retirement by spending time mediating, reading books and working with Indianapolis schools to encourage increased reading comprehension skills and boosting graduation rates.
