Known for his colourful speeches at city hall, the representative for Ward 7, Humber-River Black Creek is considered part of council’s centrist faction.
He sits on the board of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, and last year made headlines by advocating for the provincial transit agency to keep its promise to build a community hub near a rail yard in his ward.Perruzza has been a City of Toronto councillor since 2006. Before that, he was a member of North York council, and an Ontario New Democrat MPP in former premier Bob Rae’s government.
Josh Matlow and Brad Bradford submitted their papers on Monday, the first day of nominations. Councillors don’t have to resign their positions to run for mayor.
