Discoveries from space missions have influenced lives across the globe, and partnership is a big reason why. It’s no secret that space exploration is expensive, risky and quite simply a massive undertaking. To glean insights not just for today’s world but that of the future, we have to work together and share knowledge., which, over the past two-plus decades, has hosted 236 people from 18 countries—who conduct research with representatives from 93 countries.
To enable space innovation, the industry needs talent. Not just STEM talent but artists, translators, writers, electricians, educators and everyone down the line. Because space touches so many industries, there is a need for people with a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. The space industry has its diversity challenges, just as other industries do. But because we need so many different types of skills, we are embracing traditionally marginalized people who have gifts, talents and unique perspectives that they can bring to the table. Accepting such voices makes the industry better and provides new economic opportunities to those who have otherwise been passed over.Space is both expansive and expensive.
