A deep dive into how a team that trades for Anthony Davis this offseason can renegotiate/extended his current contract, locking him up through the end of the 2021-22 season.

Back at the trade deadline in February, Davis let it be known that there were four teams he'd prefer to be traded to were the Lakers, Clippers, Bucks and Knicks. They were supposedly the four franchises he would be willing to eventually sign a long-term deal if dealt there. However, how confident could a team realistically be that they would be able to lock up AD for the prime of his career? It would be, at best, a precarious situation.

Would Davis be willing to renegotiate his 2019-20 salary and sign an extension with the Knicks upon completion of a trade, or would he only be prepared to tell them he"plans on" re-signing in New York when he becomes a free agent in 2020?
