Cottonwood Heights Mayor Mike Weichers announced significant measures to enhance pedestrian safety in the city in response to a series of recent crashes involvi
ng pedestrians.Two of the crashes occurred on Fort Union Boulevard, a stretch of road notorious for its high traffic volume and speeding vehicles.
Despite previous concerns about the hazardous road, Weichers revealed that the city had secured a grant to install a Hawklight—an advanced pedestrian signal system. Additionally, Weichers stated that the city council is set to convene to discuss initiatives, including lowering the speed limit on Fort Union Boulevard.
