The 1978 Formula 1 world champion to be immortalized at Circuit of the Americas with Turn 20 named in his honor.
This week, Circuit of the Americas will name Turn 20"The Andretti" in honor of racing legend Mario Andretti.
Then again, it wasn't Andretti's fault that the facility purpose built for Formula 1 didn't even open until the racing legend turned 72 years old. Now 82, Andretti is still picking up honors and tributes. Today, Circuit of America officials announced that Turn 20 on the racing circuit will be named"The Andretti."
The naming ceremony will be held on Oct. 20 at the track, ahead of the weekend's F1 Aramco United States Grand Prix. The race will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the facility at Austin, Texas.
