Ahead of the deadline, Trump announced that mitigation measures would be extended until April 30, but clarified that the official strategy would be shared with the American public on Tuesday.

Trump originally stated that he wanted the country open by Easter, which he later said was"aspirational." Dr. Deborah Birx told reporters on Monday that Task Force members would review statistical models that led the president and mayors across the nation to develop policies for mitigating the spread of the coronavirus.

The president's official schedule didn't have the 5 p.m. EDT briefing listed, so it's unclear if he will attend. The White House referredViewers across the country can tune in for the briefing from their televisions or online. C-Span will be broadcasting the briefing live, beginning at 5 p.m., according to the schedule.
