New York City officials said 26 employees of its public hospital system had died of coronavirus, as the city’s death toll continued to rise
At least 1,109 nursing-home residents have died from the new coronavirus in New York state, including 55 people in one Brooklyn facility, officials said Friday, showing the pandemic’s impact on the state’s most vulnerable population.
Most of the deaths were concentrated downstate in New York City, Westchester County and on Long Island. New York City had 680 deaths, according to data released by the New York Department of Health. Queens has been the hardest hit county in the state with 202 deaths.
