Adam Klapka also scored for the Flames (25-18-7), who continue their fight for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, battling alongside the Vancouver Canucks. Calgary goaltender Dustin Wolf made 31 saves for the win, while John Gibson stopped 26 shots for Anaheim (21-24-6).
Frank Vatrano was the lone goal scorer for Anaheim. The game at the Saddledome was played amidst trade speculation. Winger Andrei Kuzmenko was scratched from Calgary's lineup, and after the first period, the Flames announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that forward Jakob Pelletier would not return to the game. In the third period, with just under four minutes remaining, Coronato capitalized on a clearing gaffe by Gibson, scoring into an open net to give the Flames a 3-1 lead. Earlier, Blake Coleman deflected a clearing attempt by Gibson, setting up Coronato for a goal from Anaheim's doorstep at 16:10 of the third. With Coleman screening Gibson, Coronato skated the puck into the high slot and fired a high shot past the Anaheim netminder. The game saw some physicality, with Calgary forward Nazem Kadri objecting to a shove from Anaheim defenseman Jacob Trouba into the boards midway through the second period. The two players traded punches, with Kadri receiving an extra minor for roughing. Klapka tied the game for Calgary just 15 seconds into the second period, scoring his second NHL goal with a backhand-to-forehand move that stretched Gibson with his long reach. Less than a minute after the Ducks killed off a tripping penalty on Cutter Gauthier, Vatrano gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 11:54 of the first period. Vatrano intercepted a turnover by Rasmus Andersson at Calgary's blue line, entered the offensive zone, and beat Wolf high into the top corner.
