New paving is coming to the Terry Fox Sports Centre in Cornwall at a price tag of $60,000 before HST.

Several Island community organizations are getting money from the Town of Cornwall. At its Dec. 21 monthly meeting, Cornwall councillors voted to donate to NGOs that help Islanders with a range of issues.

Coun. Corey Stevenson moved the first of the resolutions: $300 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Edge Fund, which works with Canadian Pacific to match donations to the foundation. “Heart disease can affect anyone, and today more than three and a half million people across Canada are living with heart disease, stroke and vascular-cognitive impairment,” the resolution said.“More than 2,800 Prince Edward Islanders are living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.” Council also voted to donate $500 to the Queen Eizabeth Hospital Friends for Life campaign, which raises money for hospital equipment and infrastructure. Other donations included $250 to the Native Council of P.E.I. and purchasing 10 seats at the Lebanese New Year’s Levee.Coun. Elaine Barnes will represent Cornwall on the Federation of P.E.I. Municipalities board, the council decided at its regular monthly meeting on Dec. 21.In addition to the federation, councillors selected Coun.
