She was charged in March 2022 after an investigation by the Serious Incident Response Team of Newfoundland and Labrador . The photos were taken after assaults by Laite and show bruises on the woman’s arms, leg and knee, on the top of her hip, on the top of her bum, on her back and at the top of her ribs. Some of them show the progression of the marks over the course of a few days.
Given the two lived together during the time some of the photos were taken, he said, it was impossible for Laite not to have seen them. He said they were numerous and significant in size.
