RCMP Const. Roxane Chamberland helped Yarmouth Elementary School students Ava Doucet and Jaylyn Doucette with shopping for their families at Dollarama as part of a recent Cop Shop excursion involving members of the RCMP and some elementary students from the school. TINA COMEAU PHOTOYARMOUTH, NS – The eager shoppers drew smiles from other customers as they made their way through the aisles of the store.

RCMP Const. Karl Raiche and Yarmouth Elementary School student Colby Crowell do some shopping together at Dollarama as part of a local Cop Shop activity that’s matched students and RCMP members. TINA COMEAU PHOTO They were picked up at the school on the morning of Dec. 2 by members of the town and rural RCMP detachments and first taken to lunch at Wendy’s and then taken to Dollarama to do some shopping.

The activity was first started at the former South Centennial School around eight years ago. Community member Jeff Forbes was one of those involved in organizing the event and he’s still involved.RCMP Const. Karl Raiche also said it was a nice way for the RCMP members to meet and interact with local youth.
