A cold front moved through early Saturday morning, ushering in much cooler air than Friday for a large chunk of the Island. Temperatures for many areas will be about 10º colder on Saturday afternoon when compared to Friday at the same time. Labrador will a mix of sun and cloud for Saturday, with highs a couple degrees on either side of freezing.
Sunday will be similar to Saturday, except there will be some snow showers and flurry activity in the afternoon across much of the Island except the South Coast. While I do not anticipate significant amounts, there will be a few centimeters in the higher terrain of the West Coast and Northern Peninsula.
Also, don’t forget that we set the clock back one hour at 2 AM Sunday morning as daylight saving time comes to an end. This is also a good time to change out your smoke detector batteries to make sure they’re in working order in case of an emergency. Beyond Sunday, the weather looks pretty quiet until Wednesday. At that point we are looking at the potential of some snow, ice and rain in Labrador and rain across the Island. Wednesday, right now, promises to bring another round of warm weather to much of NL.
