SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio man was sentenced Monday to life in prison for sexually abusing a young girl. Mario Morales, 46, was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child. The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office said Morales abused the girl for more than two years starting in 2011. The victim, who made her outcry for help when she was 15, said the abuse started when she was 8 years old. At the time, Morales was a registered sex offender, having been convicted of indecency with a child by contact.District Attorney Joe Gonzales said Morales was “known and trusted” by the girl’s family.
“Her bravery in speaking up and standing up to this defendant in court is commendable,” Gonzales said. “The jury’s verdict sends a clear message to this young lady and Bexar County that we do not want people who prey on our children in this community.”
