It is completely unacceptable to enact a policy that could have been devised by the drug cartels, writes Black
It shows that the safer supply experiment, which was radically ramped up during the Covid closures, has helped promote a sharp increase in use of the most dangerous drugs. Fentanyl produces a maximum high, from a very small dosage, and can be destructively mixed easily with other drugs. It is being manufactured in industrial quantities in China and is shipped to Mexico for transmission to the U.S. as part of China’s effort to displace the U.S. as the world’s leading power.
There is now ample research that shows that safer supply has just aggravated the problem. Those with an unmanageable addiction cannot be a lured off it with a lesser addiction. In the current phase of our multi-stage defeat by the drug importers, as generally occurs with failed government programs, the champions of safer supply are muddying the waters, professing to find results inconclusive, and are in a state of comatose group-denial of the undeniable.
What is completely unacceptable is persevering like insensate zombies in enactment of a policy that we know has failed so badly it could have been devised by the drug cartels. It is redolent of the disrespect for life that has caused the administrators of our Medical Assistance In Dying, , program to encourage suicide as the solution to the discontent of impoverished people.
It is distressing to contemplate what has happened to our policy-makers. A dangerous addiction can’t be cured by encouraging it; a sane society does not address the problems of its health-care system by encouraging suicide, and the answer to poverty is to assist people in escaping from it, not in killing themselves.
Those who govern us are apparently so infatuated with the practice of falsely accusing our ancestors of attempting to commit genocide against Canada’s Aboriginal peoples that they become afflicted by the contagious temptation to practice it upon the most vulnerable elements of contemporary society.
