Michigan and recruiting analyst Connor Stalions have parted ways amid sign-stealing investigation.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Michigan recruiting analyst Connor Stalions has been at the center of the sign-stealing investigation of the program, and now the Wolverines have cut ties with him.Stalions is being accused by multiple schools of purchasing tickets for games of potential future Michigan opponents over numerous seasons and transferring those tickets to friends and acquaintances.
This move comes on the same day Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti was expected to meet with Michigan President Santa Ono. That meeting follows separate meetings with both Big Ten coaches and athletic directors on the subject. The decision to let go of Stalions follows those meetings. Stalions’ departure is the first tangible action anyone has taken since the allegations of Michgian’s sign-stealing first came about. However, despite multiple reports of this decision being a firing,“Connor Stalions resigned his position with Michigan Athletics this afternoon,” the university said in a statement. “We are unable to comment further regarding this personnel matter.”
Stallions was hired as a full-time analyst for the Wolverines in 2022, working in a behind-the-scenes role. Following his decision to step down, he and his attorney Brad Beckworth of Nix Patterson provided a statement to The Athletic:. “And I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with the incredible student athletes, coach Harbaugh and the other coaches that have been a part of the Michigan football family during my tenure,” Stalions said.
