The story of Connor Bedard, whose ceiling is virtually unlimited, cannot fully be told without mentioning the floor.
It wasn’t a matter of a coach or parent suggesting that such drills would be beneficial. He was, and still is, self-motivated.

He proceeded to register five points in a 7-3 victory over the Tri-City Americans, once again impressing the scouts who are watching every move of the most-ballyhooed NHL draft prospect since Connor McDavid. “When Connor asked for 98, our manager asked him, ‘Who’s 98?’ ” Calvano recounted. “He said, ‘I’m 98.’
The likelihood is that Bedard will join McDavid and Tavares in the ranks of first-overall NHL draft choices. The Pats’ star is widely expected to go No. 1 on June 28 in Nashville.At 15, he registered 28 points in 15 games during the COVID-shortened WHL season of 2020-21.Now he sits atop the WHL in goals and points after 28 games with the 2022-23 Pats. He is currently on loan to Team Canada for the world junior hockey championship, which begins on Boxing Day in Halifax.
“As a kid, he’d always be skating laps around everybody, and he could shoot the puck twice as hard as anyone.”The studious approach has served Bedard exceptionally well, so to speak, since his introduction to organized hockey at the North Shore Winter Club.Article content “Typically with guys who are in the spotlight, they kind of have more of an ego, and I’ve seen it in a lot of players, too.
