Everett passed away in his Rehobeth home this week at the age of 87.
He served in Congress from 1993 to 2009.Despite being the underdog, he defeated state lawmaker Larry Dixon for the Republican nomination. He then came out on top of George Wallace Jr, the Democratic nominee.
Terry Everett became a powerful voice for Alabama in the nation’s capital. His soft-spoken manner won over those on both sides of the aisle.Congressman Barry Moore was saddened to hear of Everett’s passing. He said: “Congressman Everett was an Air Force veteran, journalist, and a powerful voice for Alabama’s Second District during his time in Congress. Alabama benefitted greatly from his service.
